Computer Use Policy 2012
Users shall assume full responsibility for using the
computer equipment, printing, and other resources. Users are expected to
be courteous to others including library employees. The Library is not
responsible for lost, damaged, or unavailable information due to
technical or other difficulties.
GUIDELINES FOR USE - SOFTWARE AND INTERNET
*The use of public access software applications, on-line applications,
and equipment is a privilege and at the individual's own risk.
*Each workstation is meant to be used by not more than two users at one

*The Library does not provide e-mail accounts. E-mail may be checked.
Chat rooms are discouraged.
*Basic computer skills are expected. However staff will assist as time
and resources allow.
GUIDELINES FOR INAPPROPRIATE USE
This list includes, but is not limited to:
*It is not appropriate to access pornographic or offensive materials.
*It is not appropriate to harass others
*It is not appropriate to violate any federal, state or local law.
*It is not appropriate to use for any commercial, advertising, or business
*It is not appropriate to hack or attempt to break into any computer
*It is not appropriate to send or receive chain letters or list serves.
*It is not appropriate to incur expense to the library or any other second
*It is not appropriate to misrepresent oneself or the library. It is not
appropriate to be loud, physically abuse the equipment, or exhibit
behavior that is unacceptable on Library property.
*It is not appropriate to give out personal information, family
information, or financial information
The Library staff will terminate inappropriate use and deny future
access as necessary.
Computer software applications and Internet access at the
Charlestown-Clark County Libraries are intended to provide all people
equal access to digital technologies. The library has accepted several
grants which have an impact on this policy. The Children's Internet
Protection Act, a federal law to protect minors online, has also shaped
The primary purpose of digital technologies in the library is to assist
in the Library's mission of life long learning to members of the
community. Access to information is the primary intent. However, access
to Internet communication tools and access by non-card holders has been
mandated by granting agencies.
Information available through Internet sites is not warranted by the
Charlestown-Clark County Public Library. All users of this service
agree to hold the Charlestown-Clark County Public Library harmless from
any and all claims, losses, damages, obligations, or liabilities,
directly or indirectly relating to the use of on-line resources or the
Internet, caused thereby or arising therefrom.
