Zinio - digital magazines

Freegal is a downloadable music service from your library.

All you need is your library card number. Freegal offers access to about 3 million songs, including Sony Musicís catalog of legendary artists. In total the collection is comprised of music from over 10,000 labels with music that originates in over 60 countries. There are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions.

Music can be downloaded to your computer, electronic devices, or smart phone. The freegal app is available through AppStore or Google Play. Access to freegal is limited to patrons of subscribing libraries and is limited to 3 downloads per week for each cardholder.

OverDrive - This service is available to library cardholders of this library. This database offers a variety of fiction and non-fiction downloadable eBooks and eAudio books.

eBooks can be read on devices such as eReaders, home computers, and smart phones. eAudio books can be listened to on similar devices. Download the OverDrive app from Google Play or AppStore on your electronic device. A list of compatible devices is available on the OverDrive site. Users will need to download Adobe Digital Edition (free of charge) the first time an eBook is downloaded. OverDrive automatically prompts you to download this software. OneClickDigital - This eAudio book service is available to library cardholders of this library. This service can be accessed by logging in through this website with the link above. OneClickDigital provides all types of downloadable audio books for adults and children. These eAudio books can be listened to with most MP3 players, on your computer, and electronic devices. Download the OneClickDigital app from Google Play or AppStore on your electronic device.  For instructions on using OneClickdigital, click on the Help Link.

 

Tumble Book Library -  Listen and Read-a-long in English, French, or Spanish to animated children's picture books. Tumble Book Library also offers children's educational puzzles and games. This service is available through a computer and some electronic devices.

The Online Books Page - searches the leading electronic text databases, including Project Gutenberg, English Server, and Bartleby.com. All of these databases offer access to thousands of works that are free to download and copy.

Other Databases

Rocket Languages - This database is available for use from your home computer, electronic devices, or smart phone. An extensive range of products allows you to learn a language on your own terms and in your own time. This comprehensive multi-media packages will help  you speak and improve your language skills with every lesson by taking part in the modern, everyday conversations that make up our Interactive Audio Course.

For use on electronic devices, download the Rocket Languages app from Google Play or AppStore on your device. Be sure to create a login id through the Rocket Languages link using your library card number so that you will have free access through the app on your device.

 

Mitchell's Automotive - This database can only be accessed by using a computer at any of the five branches of the Charlestown Clark County Public Libraries. OnDemand5.com is the industry standard for auto repair, estimating and service information system. This database includes 1983 through current model year engine mechanical, chassis, and electrical articles for domestic and import vehicles.
 

ProQuest Statistical Abstract of the U.S.
The ProQuest Statistical Abstract of the United States is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic conditions of the United States.
 

INSPIRE - Indiana's Online Research Library - When you need reliable, verifiable, quantifiable, accurate information, go where the experts go. INSPIRE offers magazines, encyclopedias, and other resources to all Indiana residents. Research current events, science, business, health, notable people, hobbies, and much more from your library, school, home or office.

Genealogical and Historical Databases

Heritage Quest Online - This database is available at the Charlestown Clark County Public Libraries or from your home computer. Click on the link above and enter the barcode number from your library card to access this database from home. Click this link, if you are in one of our libraries so you will not need to enter your barcode. This site offers searchable census records, family and local history books, Revolutionary War records, Freedman's Bank, U.S. Serial Set, and more.

 

Ancestry.com Library Edition - This database can only be accessed by using a computer at any of the five branches of the Charlestown Clark County Public Libraries. Ancestry.com contains coverage of the U.S. and the U.K., including census, vital, church, court, and immigration records, as well as record collections from Canada and other areas. A collection of more than 4,000 databases and 1.5 billion names including U.S. federal census images and indexes from 1790 to 1930; the Map Center containing more than 1,000 historical maps; American Genealogical Biographical Index, Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage, The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1630, Social Security Death Index, WWI Draft Registration Cards, Federal Slave Narratives, and a Civil War collection.

 

Book Lists

NoveList - This database is available at the Charlestown Clark County Public Libraries or from your home computer. Click on the link and enter your library card barcode number to access this database from home. Click this link, if you are in one of our libraries so you will not need to enter your barcode. NoveList is a fiction database that provides subject heading access, reviews, annotations, and much more for over 135,000 fiction titles. It also includes other content of interest to fiction readers, such as Author Read-alikes, What We're Reading, Book Discussion Guides, BookTalks, and Annotated Book Lists. For school media specialists and teachers there are Picture Book Extenders and articles on Teaching with Fiction.

 

Searchable Youth Book Lists - This is a database for children to find book series order, read what the series is about, see how other kids have rated a series, find books by the same author, see awards the books have been given, and see what reading level the series is.
 

 

Reading Counts Search - Reading Counts is a program children participate in at school to encourage children to read. This database provides a searchable listing of each local school's list of books and links to the library's catalog.
